Photo Highlights - Beech Mountain Resort 2023 Summer Concert SeriesAug 23, 2023
Another year, another stellar series of summer concerts at Beech Mountain Resort in Western North Carolina.
It's hard for me to put into words how grateful I am to be the house photographer for these events for the past two summers. It's been an absolute pleasure collaborating with the marketing team at the resort, as well as the production crews that make it all happen on the ground (Midwood Entertainment and Codex Sound Company to be specific, with a special shout-out going to my main man "Turnup" on the lighting board).
Though this summer certainly had its weather challenges, the crews (and the fans and artists) persevered to produce some of my favorite concerts of 2023 (with My Morning Jacket being up there with the best shows that I have ever seen and photographed!).
Rather than talk you through my experience on the mountain, how about I just show you?
If I'm doing my job correctly, my photos will tell you the story of the Beech Mountain Resort 2023 Summer Concert Series (including the late-July "Party on the Mountain" three-night run).

How did I ever get lucky enough to get this gig, you ask?
Well, it all started about two years ago when the band Greensky Bluegrass called me in to shoot their 2021 Beech Mountain show, covering for their normal tour photographer, Dylan, who couldn't make it to that gig.
My work for GSBG caught the eye of the marketing folks at Beech Mountain Resort, which led to our first-year collaboration for the 2022 Summer Concert Series. Throw in a couple of Winter 2023 shows at the BMR Tap Room, and eventually I was back at the resort in mid-June to shoot the Revivalists headlining the kick-off to the summer of 2023. It all unfolded in grand style from there to what you see in my photo highlights!
With the successful 2023 expansion of the Summer Concert Series to include the three-night "Party on the Mountain" in late July (with quite a list of high-profile headliners, not the least of which was Sheryl Crow), I can't wait to see what the folks at Beech have in store for 2024!
See you then, if not sooner!
